Nokia N97 feels the heat in Dubai

nokia_n97_lead

Nokia’s latest N-series mobile has finally landed on the sunny shores of Dubai. We’ve played with it before, but we’re still rather impressed with this sleek little slider. It’s got a 5MP camera, HSDPA, A-GPS and up to 48GB of storage to play with, not to mention a full QWERTY revealed via sumptuous tilting mechanism. Expect to find it in stores early next week, for around US$850.

This marks the first release of the summer smartphone bonanza – with the Palm Pre launching in the US tomorrow, a new iPhone on the horizon, and HTC and Samsung both teasing big announcements. Like a Dubai summer, the mobile market is going to get very hot and sticky.

With more in the pipeline, the I7500 is Samsung’s first handset to run Google’s Android operating system. Only 11.9mm thick (a tad thinner than the HTC Magic) its got a gorgeous 3.2in AMOLED screen and 5MP camera with LED flash. It packs 8GB of internal storage, with microSD support up to 32GB (that’s 40GB!), and works with HSDPA, Wi-Fi and GPS. It will be available in major European countries from June this year, and expect to shell out around US$400 for one.

In case you forgot, the Arena has a slick 3in widescreen display, has HSDPA-powered mobile internet, A-GPS for mapping and navigation and a DivX video player for your flicks. It’s available right now for US$680.
