A new iPhone was spotted last night, and while the body has stayed very much the same, its guts received a much needed overhaul. Apple has thrown a faster processor and twice the RAM into the 3GS, with a 3MP autofocus camera, better battery life and voice controls. iPhone OS 3.0 will come pre-installed, giving you a digital compass, copy and paste functions and a neat Find My iPhone application. It will come in 16GB and 32GB capacities, in the familiar black and white, and be priced US$200 and US$300 respectively. Out in the UAE this August.

Here’s the newest media player from iRiver, the B30. Its got 16GB internal memory (expandable via microSD), a 2.8in QVGA screen and will gobble up any filetype you feed it, including .avi video. It packs decent battery life, 40 hours of music and 5.5 hours of video playback, and is wrapped in a svelte and very shiny surface. And while that case looks like a bit of a finger print magnet to us, it still looks tasty.

Don’t fancy one of those expensive iPhone service plans? Fear not, UAE-dwelling Apple fans, as Etisalat has just announced that the world’s most strokable mobile will now be available for Wasel customers (pre-paid, to you). Sure, it ain’t cheap at Dhs3,121 for 8GB or Dhs3,570 for 16GB, but ‘Slat will subsidize that with a free SIM and 250MB of free data a month for six months, a saving they reckon will save you Dhs2,000. That adds up to Dhs1,121 to get started on the multi-touch wonder… an odd figure, but who’s complaining?
