Conficker Eye Chart doesn’t work via proxies

This handy Conficker Eye Chart is the cleanest and least painful way to find out if your PC is hosting the dreaded Conficker worm. But wait…

If you can see all six images in both rows of the top table, you are either not infected by Conficker, or you may be using a proxy server, in which case you will not be able to use this test to make an accurate determination, since Conficker will be unable to block you from viewing the AV/security sites.

Since we’re in the UAE, we’re all on a proxy by default. So, does this mean we can’t get Conficker? Or that we can get it, but it can’t do its job? Or that we can get it, and it can do its job, but we can’t find out if we’ve got it? Thankfully, we don’t have to worry (we’re using Macs), but if anyone can shed some light on this, your fellow Stuff blog readers might appreciate it.
