Arash Motor’s AF-10 supercar

If you have a spare US$580,000 stored under the mattress for a rainy day, you might be interested in Arash’s latest motor. Packing a hefty 550BHP under its ultra-sleek bonnet, the AF-10 has a 7-litre engine capable of top speeds over 200kph. So it’s fast, expensive and exclusive too, with only 25 planned to roll off the production line.

2K Games to release Dubai-based First Person Shooter?

 

Our frag-happy pals at MEGamers posted a link to a mysterious new video of an FPS depicting Dubai as a sandy post-apocalyptic wasteland, complete with cameos of Emirates Towers, the Burj Al Arab and the Burj Dubai.

We’ve contacted our sources at 2K Games (who are allegedly publishing the game) for an official response, but as yet have received no word.

Casio Exilim EX-G1 toughcam

This snapper’s biggest selling point: it looks like something Batman would strap to his utility belt. The EX-G1 is a 12MP pocket-friendly camera, that’s waterproof down to 3m or submersed for up to 60min. It can handle temperatures down to -10 degrees, and will survive drops of 2m. Other features include a 16:9 movie mode, microSD storage and a 3x optical zoom. Definitely worth getting for your next spelunking trip.

Suunto Core Extreme Limited Edition

We’re  a big fan of Suunto’s harder-than-nails sports watches, and the aptly named Core Extreme is no different. Packed within Batman-like armour, the dark delight includes an altimeter, barometer, digital thermometer, whether trend indicator, digital compass and predicted sunrise or sunset times. If that wasn’t enough, it also tells the time, twice (thanks to dual timekeeping abilities). No word on pricing just yet, but with all those features we wouldn’t be surprised if it fell into the Bruce Wayne-consumer bracket.

Free gadget goodies? Yes please

Anyone want free stuff? We thought you might, that’s why we’ve got a load of cool kit up for grabs in this month’s Stuff magazine. Fujifilm FinePix Z33WP toughcam

We’ve got a special place in our hearts for any gadget we can punt across the room and survive. That’s why we’re currently googley eyed over Fuji’s latest toughcam, the Z33WP. This tank-like 10MP compact packs a respectable 2.7in LCD, with 3x optical zoom and face detection. More importantly, it’s waterproof down to 10M and will survive a chomp from Jaws. Sure to come in handy on your Christmas trip to Amity Island.

Jabra stone skips its way into Dubai

Stuff’s position on Bluetooth headphones is well documented – if you’re not in the car, get it out of your ear hole – but the Jabra Stone is the first wireless headset that might tempt us from common sense. The Stone’s curvaceous body is so comfy, it feels like it’s making love to the back of your ear, and when it’s not loving your lugholes, it sits snugly within the included charger creating one uniformed rock-like shape. It includes Noise Blackout Extreme technology that uses dual mics to reduce background noise, soft rubber pads and touch volume controls. They’re being rolled into stores as we speak, yours for US$135 (Dhs499).

Fortis Mars 500 is for Cosmonauts

Don’t be fooled by the name, the Mars 500 watch has gone places far more exotic than the surface of the bright red planet. It has been all the way to Moscow, and the Russian Space Labs simulator. Right now, six very bored Russian Cosmonauts are buried in the ground and will remain there for 520 days (round about the same time it would take to get to Mars). And they will be counting the long, drawn-out seconds to freedom on these brand spankin’ new watches. No word of pricing just yet, but they are exclusive (read: expensive) and only 2012 watches are being produced. Let’s hope none of them run fast.
